This is a great day out for all the family, with a beautiful paddle on Windermere on a great adventure at Wray Castle.
Red Nab is a great place to launch on Windermere, with the car park being really close to the water. From this car park, launch and head north towards the mountains. As you head along the shoreline you go around a small headland and you can see across the bay the large beach below the castle and the turrets of the castle poking out of the tree's. Head across the bay and pick a spot on the beach below the castle to land. From here head up to the castle. The castle is a brilliant activity for all the family, young or old.
On the return trip take a moment to head north along the shoreline to see the castle boathouse. As you head back you are treated to a very different view of Bowness.
I am the Outdoor and Sports Programme Manager for the Lakes. This is a great post, as i get to inspire people to do great things, in great venues!
