Make a mud slide

Duration:2 hours or less
Activity:For kids - things to do before you're 11¾

Create a messy, gloopy, slippery mud slide using a bin liner as a make shift mud-sledge and a nice muddy hill. You will probably want to wear some old clothes you don't mind getting very dirty, and take some spare clean clothes with you! The best idea for finding a great muddy hill, is to wait until there has been a few days of rain first (which isn't rare in the Lakeland area!). It definitely won't be hard to find somewhere muddy enough. If you struggle to find a hill to create the mud slide slope, how about just venturing to a marsh or boggy field such as the area by Stile End, Braithwaite - you'll still be able to play in the mud! Just be sure to take an adult with you incase you need pulled out of the mud!

Mud can take some cultivating if it miraculously hasn't rained much, so why not try a wet grass slide if you’re stuck? Take your pick from one of our Lake District hills!
