The finest dining room in town!
For the exceptional views from your table, this is the best place to 'eat out'.
All you have to do is bring your own food - bring a hamper, picnic, or even fish and chips from town - and enjoy your lunch or evening meal on the picnic tables. Overlooking the lake, there aren't many (if any) restaurants with a better view; and less costly too!
There are a number of takeaway food outlets in Keswick to suit most people's tastes and budgets, or simply pick something up from the supermarket. Be sure though to choose a clear, dry day - you don't want it to rain in the middle of dinner.

Derwent Water is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk along the shore, with amazing views across the lake. Read about my favourite spot to have a cup of coffee and another of my best picnic-ing places!

I’m the National Trust ranger for Borrowdale and Newlands in the North Lakes, UK. I volunteered for the Trust when I came on the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme aged 13. I started by building a new fence on Friars Crag to tackle an erosion problem and making paths more accessible for people with limited mobility. I enjoyed it so much that I continued to volunteer until I left school and was lucky enough to get a job with the National Trust. After working for the Trust for 29 years, I still love the job.
