All of a Flutter

Duration:Half Day
Activity:Nature 'wows'

If you are looking for butterflies then look no further than Arnside Knott. Come early summer the place comes alive with the most spectacular show of a fantastic range of butterflies. Arnide Knott is the perfect place to wander and it's best just to go with the flow. Wherever your desire takes you - you will not be disappointed. Butterflies mainly like open glades that are sheltered and a lot of our work on the Knott is focusing on opening glades to create a butterfly motorway, if you will. We are lucky enough to boast many species including high brown fritillaries, dark green fritillaries, brimstone, grayling, scotch argus, gatekeeper, peacocks and the list continues.

Don’t forget your binoculars and a camera as they don’t always co-operate and stay still long enough for you to get a good look.

I consider myslef to be quite lucky as I have the priviledge of working accross a vast property that includes SSSI Sand Dunes, vast limestone pavements and magical woodlands. When I am not at work my priority is family and there is nothing more fun then getting outdoors with the kids and the pooch and getting back to nature. Most of my experiences focus on how to make the most of the lakes with your family and I hope you find them useful
