Discover a new sport - and take it home with you
2012 was an amazing year for sport, especially the London Olympics, where we saw the likes of Andy Murray, Bradley Wiggins, Ed McKeever, Mo Farah and Katherine Grainger win gold in each of their respective sports. Building on this momentum, and inspired by the success of the Olympic Games, Sport England and the National Trust would like to encourage everyone, wherever you live, to continue the sports and outdoor pursuits endeavoured in the Lake District.
Here in the Lakes there are many facilities and activities to take advantage of
during your stay whilst visiting, camping or holidaying in this part of
the UK. Perhaps you liked the kayaking expedition you tried one summer
afternoon on Windermere, or perhaps you hiked some of the striking
Lakeland peaks and enjoyed the rewarding climb, or maybe you found a
hidden talent for archery, rowing or mountain biking.... Whatever sports you have enjoyed, they don't have to be left behind!
You might have tried climbing and canoeing in the Lakes and enjoyed them, but not really thought about them being a sport you could do at home. Using the links below it's easy to find out about local clubs and activities that you can get involved with to take your holiday fun back home with you.
